There are two main builds for any class in GW2, "Power" which uses Berserker stats (Power main, Precision and Ferocity second) and "Condi" which uses Viper's stats (Condition Damage, Duration, etc.). Engi can use both, but power is faster; overworld enemies are soft, and condi tends to require more kits.

Ranger Guide. by Scout January 23, 2020. Ranger (sometimes called Huntsman by players of other MMOs) has one of the consistently highest damage rates in GW2. Ranger also has the best ranged attacks, which can combine with pet skills to provide a wide range of effects. New Player Note: Along with Guardian, we highly recommend Ranger for new players. If you are a new player, then you care about: - Gold - Used for many things. Not too hard to get. Anything that costs less than 1 gold is cheap, so feel free buying it if you want it. - Karma - Account bound reward for doing events. It's not valuable or rare, spend it as at your heart's content.
Renown Hearts. A nonplayer character (NPC) needs help. Fill the bar on the upper-right side of your screen by doing tasks in the area around the heart. After you've filled the heart, you'll find rewards in a chest above your compass, and you can visit the NPC to purchase items with a special currency called karma.
havent touched it since launch. Ok, log in, dont delete anything, create a new character and treat it like a new game. Seriously. Make a new character and explore the world and experiment with the class weapons traits, etc. You will unlock everything by 80, so you cant mess anything up. Worry about optimal builds once you get to 80.

Getting familiar with the keybinds and movement of the game will be super important for you to have a fun time. Once you are lvl 80 that's when the rest of the game opens up for you. You have instanced and open world PvE, 5v5 PvP, and WvW (server v server, big 100+ player fights) for different things to do in a nutshell.

GW2 Problems for Starting/Returning Players. Instead of just commenting about it elsewhere, i decided to see what other people think about one main issues i have with how the game deals with this aspect, it seems to bother a lot of players out there, and as a returning player from 10 years ago i can include myself in this situation.
